Special Education Interventionist
The Interventionist role is designed to support scholars in grades K-6 with exceptional needs at Nashville Classical. This role works with our school’s most vulnerable and hardest-working scholars and it is essential to our school’s success.
Review weekly lesson plans and provide modifications, as necessary
Teach small groups in guided reading & math, using a research-based curriculum
Monitor referrals for scholars with special needs
Implement and adjust behavior interventions for scholars
Implement school-wide systems for academics and behavior
Engage families through phone calls, home visits, bus rides, and notes
Implement processes to monitor progress of exceptional students
Compile data for meetings, updates, and annual reports
Participate in an annual three-week staff training prior to school’s opening
Commit to teach an extended daily schedule and attend daily professional development
Support teachers and paraprofessionals to implement interventions
Do whatever it takes to achieve the mission of Nashville Classical
The ideal candidate possesses
A certification in Special Education or is working towards certification in Special Education
Experience a Special Education caseload
The ability to teach core subjects (Math and Reading) to elementary or middle school scholars
